What changed in 2026
NERSA approved an average increase of 8.76% for Eskom direct customers from 1 April 2026, and 9.01% for municipalities that buy bulk electricity from Eskom, from 1 July 2026. Municipalities then apply their own NERSA-approved tariffs to households, so municipal customers pay different prices.
Homelight, Homepower and Homeflex
Homelight is for low and medium use and has no fixed daily charge, which makes it simple for prepaid customers. Homepower and Homeflex add fixed daily charges and are meant for higher-use homes; they are not covered by our calculators yet.
